ACTIVATED CARBON FILTERS (PACKAGES)

Is it mandatory to use carbon filters? Charcoal filters volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as pesticides and solvents. Carbon filtration removes these chemicals and improves the taste of the water. Activated charcoal components: natural coconut shell. Features: Removes odors and improves taste. Expiry date: The activated carbon package must be changed every 25 days. If the distilled water has a strange taste or odor, replace the activated carbon package immediately. The water will be tastier if you use 2 bags at a time. Do not put unused, unused or currently used activated carbon packs in the refrigerator, as they can absorb odors there and therefore give the water a bad taste. New packages of activated carbon can emit a small amount of black powder, which is completely harmless to the human body. It is just powdered charcoal, it is safe to use. Tightly sealed activated carbon packages should be stored in a cool place. When you buy a new distiller, you will find packages of activated carbon in the packaging, or they can be purchased separately.

HOW DOES IT WORK AND DO YOU NEED IT?

An activated carbon filter consists of small pieces of granular carbon. Just one gram of activated carbon has a surface area of 500-3000 m2. 4 grams is equivalent to a football pitch. This surface area allows filters to absorb pollutants and other substances very efficiently. Activated carbon filters have different removal capacities, ranging from approximately 50 to 0.5 microns. When water passes through carbon filters, the chemicals stick to the carbon, resulting in purer water. Efficiency depends on water flow and temperature.

WHAT DO ACTIVATED CARBON FILTERS REMOVE?

Activated carbon removes contaminants, odour and bad taste from water. Activated carbon is highly effective in removing at least 81 chemicals. Actually, it's a lot more than that, but the 81 chemicals are chemicals that have been thoroughly tested. The Environmental Protection Agency in the United States states that activated carbon is the only filter recommended to remove all 32 identified organic contaminants, including chlorine by-products. The same applies to 14 pesticides and 12 herbicides.
